Crochet an Amigurumi Monster

  • Feb 28 - AT 6:51 pm

What in the world is amigurumi?

This term, which is derived from Japanese, refers to the beautiful and artful technique of crocheting and knitting stuffed animals, people and other 3D objects. The first part of the word means knit OR crochet (yes, both!) and the second part means stuffed doll/toy. Essentially, it means “knit/crocheted stuffed toy friend!” How awesome is that? Amigurumi : the art of literally MAKING friends.

Suggested class fee $20 donation with members receiving $10 off. Please RSVP before the class so we can keep track of how many kits we will need. Payments can be made in person or ahead of time at https://pay.reforge.io (enter class name in the notes section).

Learning at Reforge,

We will teach you the basic building blocks of creating Amigurumi. Shapes such as the simple sphere, cylinders, and egg shapes are the main parts of making any Amigurumi creature.

You do not have to know how to crochet before this class, although, a knowledge of crochet will help. These basic shapes are made using a single crochet stitch only. Increasing and decreasing the number of stitches in each round(row) will create the shape desired.

Do I need to bring anything?

No, you don’t need to bring anything other than a creative mind and a willing to learn. Yarn and hooks will be provided. However if you have a favorite hook please bring a size F hook for the work we will be doing.
