Intro to Arduino part 1: Getting On-Board

  • Aug 13 - AT 7:51 pm

Do you fear the robot uprising? Does the computing power of your coffee maker make you feel insecure about your own ability to do math? Are you curious about what dark forces compel your Roomba? Well, fret no longer! In this introductory-level programming and circuitry course, you will take your first steps into the arcane world of modern computerized homebrew electronics.

Students will learn the functions of basic electrical components, the anatomy of an Arduino microcontroller, basic programming concepts, and more! Class will include online simulations as well as hands-on projects where you will design, construct, and program a circuit that will flash LED lights in whatever pattern you chose.

Suggested per-class fee is a $20 donation with members receiving $10 off. Please RSVP before the class so we can keep track of how many kits we will need. Payments can be made in person or ahead of time at https://www.paypal.me/reforgechs (enter the class name in the notes section).

* Please bring a laptop if you have one. We will have some computers available.
** In order to speed up the programming portion of the class, Please use the following link to visit the official Arduino website and download the “Arduino IDE” Software (https://www.arduino.cc/en/main/software) and create an account here (https://www.tinkercad.com/)

*** This class may be substituted for the “Intro to Arduino Robotics” prerequisite in our ongoing DIY Robotics Series, scheduled to conclude next month.
